Why is there a reaction when we push?
The short answer
When two objects interact, each exerts a force of equal size in the opposite direction on the other.
How it works
When you push a wall, the wall pushes back. The forces act on two different objects; they do not simply cancel on one object.
A familiar example
When walking, your foot pushes the ground backward and the ground pushes you forward.
